How You Too Can Become a Tristan Jones Fan

Easy Steps to becoming

a Big Time Tristan Jones Fan

This was my approach and it worked just fine for me.  Others may have had a different experience.  If so, I would love to hear about how you became a Tristan Jones fan.  Leave your account in our guestbook or bulletin board so that others may share in your personal approach.

My recommended method

Step 1: Start by reading The Incredible Voyage.  This will start your addiction.  (Don't worry -- it's a good thing.)  You will be left longing for another adventure and a need to know more about the man. Also, what happens to his boat Sea Dart!
Step 2: If at this point you need another immediate adventure fix then read ICE!  If you can hold off and want to find out what happens next, read Adrift.  Either way, you will now be hooked and the voyage is just beginning!
Step 3: After reading ICE! and Adrift, I would recommend Saga of a Wayward Sailor.  This will give you a more rounded view of Tristan Jones and you will really want to know more about him.  How did this man come to his way of life?  The answers are found in the next step!
Step 4: OK. Now that you are a budding Tristan Jones fan, and you have told all your friends how they too need to read his books, you need a better understanding of his background.  Read A Steady Trade to learn about his youth.  Then read Heart of Oak to learn about his transition into manhood during WWII.
Step 5: Now you're ready for the final step of fanaticism.  Read the three book trilogy Outward Leg, The Improbable Voyage, and Somewheres East of Suez for Tristan Jones' round the world adventure.  You are now truly hooked -- join the club.
